September 1, 1939 :
Picasso decides to flee Paris and takes refuge in Royan, where his partner Marie-Thérèse and his five-year-old daughter Maya have been staying since the beginning of the summer. On board his Hispano-Suiza driven by the faithful Marcel, take place his friend and secretary Jaime Sabartés, accompanied by his wife Mercedes, Kazbek the Afghan hound, his painting equipment as well as the enigmatic and bewitching Dora Maar. “Picasso in Royan” tells the story of ten months of exile punctuated by walks, moments of tenderness with Maya, but also return trips to Paris… A singular crative period during which 750 works will be born…
